MEETINGS WITH SCHOOLCHILDREN CONTINUE

On April 16 and 18, the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology continues to welcome schoolchildren from Velykocernechchyna Secondary School and Sumy Gymnasium No. 1.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Antonina BIESIEDINA introduced the future applicants to the history of our department. Then she told a fascinating story about interesting parasitology. The students learned that parasitism is a phenomenon that cannot be eliminated. Without parasites, life will not become easier or, at least, more beautiful. The students were interested in learning about the most dangerous and common parasites in our area; the peculiarities of helminthic life cycles, pathogenesis and diagnosis. The students had the opportunity to see what these parasites look like and how they adapt to new environments. They learned how these small creatures can be dangerous and useful for humans and about the use of parasites for medicinal purposes. They came to the conclusion that these harmful creatures play an important role and that we cannot do without them.

In addition, assistant Tetyana OLESHKO interested the students in an experiment to study blood type. The students learned that the blood type can tell a lot of interesting facts about its owner. At the masterclass, the pupils listened with enthusiasm to information about the composition and functions of blood, learned the secrets of blood type mimicry and investigated their own blood type.

The event helped students to stimulate interest and motivation to study medical subjects and to identify new opportunities to succeed in their professional lives in the future.

The staff of the department is grateful to all the students for their active participation and wishes them further success in their studies and implementation of their plans for the future!
