Viktoriia HARBUZOVA – Head of the Jury in the “Healthcare” Section at the Second Stage of the All-Ukrainian Competition-Defense of Research Projects for Students – Members of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (JAS)

From February 18 to 21, 2025, the second stage of the All-Ukrainian Competition-Defense of Research Projects for Students – Members of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (JAS) took place at Sumy State University.

Professor Viktoriia HARBUZOVA, Head of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, chaired the work of the jury in the “Healthcare” section.

A total of eight research projects were submitted by students from Sumy region, including:

  • Prevalence of Prediabetes and Diabetes Among Educators in Sumy During Wartime
  • Dynamics of Infertility in Ukraine
  • Impact of Magnetic Storms on the Human Body
  • Effects of Stress Factors on the Human Brain
  • Mental Health of Adolescents Under Martial Law
  • Impact of PTSD on Adolescents’ Mental Health
  • Influence of the Biometal Iron on Adolescents’ Health
  • Pets as a Factor Influencing the Psycho-Emotional State of Humans

The competition process was conducted in several stages:

  1. Preliminary evaluation, where the jury assessed the justification of the chosen topic, its scientific or practical significance, the systematic approach to the research question, clarity of presentation, critical analysis of sources, and compliance with formatting requirements.
  2. Poster presentation and defense, during which participants presented their key research findings to the jury.
  3. Final conference, where contestants and jury members engaged in discussions and exchanged ideas.

After thorough analysis, the jury selected the best research projects and winners, who will represent the region at the national stage of the competition.

The research projects of JAS participants play a key role in shaping future scientists. They stand out due to the relevance of their topics, interdisciplinary approach, and commitment to scientific objectivity using modern research methods. Participants demonstrate analytical skills, the ability to formulate scientific hypotheses, and draw well-founded conclusions.

The competition brought together determined, creative, and ambitious students who are keenly interested in contemporary scientific challenges.
