On January 3, teachers from the Municipal Institution “Sumy Lyceum No. 33” of the Sumy City Council gathered for an event aimed at professional development and fostering collaboration with Sumy State University (SSU).
Irina HUBSKA, the principal of Lyceum No. 33, emphasized the importance of fruitful communication between institutions of higher and secondary education. She highlighted the effectiveness of the partnership between the lyceum and SSU, which focuses on enhancing the quality of student education.
Ivan KOZIY, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work at SSU, presented the university’s educational and scientific opportunities to the meeting participants.
Andrii LOBODA, Director of the Educational and Research Medical Institute at SSU, discussed the preparation of highly qualified medical professionals at the university.
Igor ROI, Executive Secretary of the SSU Admissions Committee, informed attendees about key aspects of the 2025 admissions campaign.
Following these discussions, participants divided into professional communities:
- Mathematical, Informational, and Natural Sciences (Physics)
- Language and Literature (Foreign Languages)
- Natural Sciences
- Physical Education
Associate Professor Antonina BIESIEDINA introduced the Natural Sciences community to collaborative opportunities with the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology with the Course of Medical Biology at SSU’s Educational and Research Medical Institute. Participants were briefed on the department’s educational and scientific activities and its major achievements over the years.
She also outlined collaboration opportunities, including participation in SSU’s Second Biological School for high school students, an initiative led by Professor Viktoriia HARBUZOVA, scheduled for late March 2025. Additionally, participants learned about the upcoming World Brain Awareness Week in 2025.
Teachers expressed keen interest in engaging students in the department’s scientific work, preparing them for the fourth stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in Biology, and involving them in research projects as members of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Opportunities for students to attend scientific club meetings and participate in SSU conferences like “First Step into Science” were also highlighted.
Equally engaging were the presentations on guided tours of the department and the Molecular Genetics Research Laboratory. Events such as meetings with students at SSU, hosted by Associate Professor Antonina BIESIEDINA and Assistant Zoya LEVCHENKO, sparked significant interest.
The event served as a platform for professional dialogue, experience exchange, and the establishment of educational connections between the professional communities of SSU and Lyceum No. 33.
