The second day of the Biology School: students plunged into the world of genetics

The second day of the Biology School for Sumy schoolchildren took place in the exciting atmosphere of the “Hereditary Laboratory”. The participants had the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of genetics, analyzing theoretical issues, solving complex genetic problems and solving a thematic crossword puzzle.

Under the guidance of Olga OBUKHOVA, associate professor of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, the students got acquainted with the basic principles of heredity, Mendel’s laws and the features of inheritance of traits in various organisms. To test their knowledge and develop logical thinking, an exciting genetic crossword puzzle was organized, which helped to consolidate the learned concepts.

The practical part of the event became a real challenge for young biologists. They used the knowledge they gained to solve genetic problems, modeling the possibilities of inheritance of traits and analyzing pedigrees. Such exercises not only develop critical thinking, but also contribute to the formation of a scientific approach to the study of biology. Such interactive teaching methods increase students’ interest in science and help them better prepare for the Olympiad and external examinations. There are still many interesting lessons ahead that will expand students’ knowledge of wildlife and its laws.

The biological school continues its work, and each new day promises even more interesting discoveries in the world of science!
