On May 19, 2025, the final session of the course “Modern Methods of Biological Research” was held for third-level higher education applicants majoring in 091 “Biology and Biochemistry.” The session took the form of a scientific seminar during which doctoral students delivered presentations.
Participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of current areas in modern biological science, including:
- “Ethics of Animal Use in Biological Experiments” – discussion focused on the fundamentals of bioethics, international standards, and ethical principles for conducting research involving laboratory animals;
- “Morphological Methods for Studying Tissues and Cells” – the session explored both classical and modern approaches to microscopy, staining techniques, and sample preparation;
- “Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR): Principles, Types, and Practical Applications” – attendees were introduced to the basics of molecular diagnostics, various types of PCR, and its use in biomedical research.
The event was conducted by Associate Professor of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology with a course in Medical Biology, Olha Obukhova, who emphasized the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in training researchers and implementing modern research techniques in practice.
The development of scientific competence, ethical responsibility, and the application of modern methods of biological research is achieved through the integration of theoretical training with the research experience of early-career scientists in doctoral studies. This approach contributes to the cultivation of critical thinking, academic integrity, and professional maturity, aligning with the global Sustainable Development Goals in the areas of quality education, health promotion, and support for innovation in biomedical science.
