Publication by SumDU Researchers in the Journal BioMed Research International (Scopus, Q2)

Researchers of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology with the Course of Medical Biology have published the results of their study, “The Link Between VDR Gene rs7975232 Polymorphism and Benign Proliferative Breast Disease in Ukrainian Population,” in the high-ranking international journal BioMed Research International, which is indexed in the Scopus database and ranked in the Q2 quartile.

The publication was authored by Associate Professor Olha Obukhova and Professor Viktoriia Harbuzova in collaboration with clinicians — Associate Professor Ivan Lukavenko and Mykola Kyrychenko.

The study investigated the association between the rs7975232 polymorphism of the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene and the risk of benign proliferative breast disease in the Ukrainian population. The findings expand current understanding of the molecular genetic mechanisms underlying proliferative processes and highlight the importance of genetic factors in risk stratification.

The research was conducted at the Scientific Laboratory of Molecular Genetic Research of Sumy State University, enabling the application of modern genotyping techniques and advanced statistical analysis.

Publication in a Q2-ranked journal confirms the high level of scientific research at the university and promotes the integration of Ukrainian science into the international academic community.
