Molecular Genetics in Action: Summary of the Meeting on Mitochondrial Pathologies

On December 5, 2025, an online meeting of the student scientific group “Molecular-Genetic Laboratory” was held on the topic “Mitochondrial Diseases: Molecular Mechanisms and Diagnostics.” Participants had the opportunity to explore current scientific approaches to studying mitochondrial disorders, their impact on the human body, and modern diagnostic methods. The event was conducted under the guidance of Associate Professor Olha Obukhova.

The program of the meeting included the following presentations:

Taisiia Kharchenko (MC.m-306) – “Mutations of Mitochondrial DNA and Their Role in Human Pathology”

Diana Lapikova (MC.m-304) – “Methods of Molecular-Genetic Diagnostics of Mitochondrial Disorders”

Yehor Pelekh (MC.m-306) – “Impact of Mitochondrial Diseases on Energy Metabolism”

Olesia Chernets (MC.m-213) – “Modern Approaches to the Therapy and Correction of Mitochondrial Diseases”

The event brought together students, faculty, and young researchers interested in molecular biology, genetics, and personalized medicine. The meeting addressed molecular mechanisms underlying mitochondrial diseases, the potential of advanced diagnostic technologies, and promising therapeutic strategies.

Presentation materials will be available on the official resources of the group. We invite everyone to join our upcoming scientific meetings!
