Medical Institute Students of SumDU Completed First Psychological Aid Training

Students of the Medical Institute of Sumy State University, studying at the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology with courses in Medical Biology, took part in a First Psychological Aid training for youth. The sessions were conducted by trainer Viktoriia Korniienko and assistant to the regional coordinator in the field of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Tetiana Muzyka. The program was developed by the Psychosocial Centre of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The aim of the training was to develop students’ skills in providing timely and effective first psychological aid to their peers. Participants learned how to recognize signs of stress in crisis situations, reduce its impact, take into account individual needs, support people in decision-making, and refer them for specialized assistance.

The sessions were held in an interactive and game-based format, which encouraged active student engagement and improved knowledge retention.

The event was held with the support of Associate Professor Olha Obukhova.
