On May 15, 2025, as part of Mental Health Awareness Month, medical students attended an interactive lecture with practical elements titled “Psycho-emotional Balance — From Reaction to Resource.” The event was conducted by Associate Professor of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology with a course in Medical Biology, Olha Obukhova.
During the session, students explored different types of stress, physiological responses to stressors, the stages of the stress response, and key factors influencing emotional well-being after traumatic events. The practical component included stabilization techniques such as grounding exercises and breathing practices, aimed at restoring emotional balance.
This event contributed to the development of self-care skills, emotional awareness, and empathy — essential components of a future physician’s professional training. The lecture also supported the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular: ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages, and ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
The interactive format fostered student engagement and created a safe environment for open discussion of important mental health topics.
