Department Lecturers Participate in mhGAP Training

From April 28 to May 1, 2025, a training session was held in Sumy for lecturers of Sumy State University who will be involved in the integration and teaching of mhGAP programs.
Professor Viktoriia Harbuzova, Associate Professor Olha Obukhova, and Assistant Lecturer Yelyzaveta Stroi took an active part in this event.

The integration of mental health components into the academic programs of Sumy State University is being carried out in accordance with the “Concept for the Integration of the mhGAP Tool Package into the Curricula of Medical Universities.”
This concept was developed on the initiative of the Coordination Center for Mental Health under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and presented during a working meeting of university rectors titled “Integration of Higher Medical Education into the National Mental Health Program.”

The international humanitarian organization MdM-Greece (Médecins du Monde – Greece) supports universities in implementing the educational component of the mhGAP program by organizing a series of training sessions for faculty members. These trainings are aimed at those directly involved in implementing the Concept, developing curricula and teaching materials, and delivering education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Such trainings represent an important step in supporting people who continue to live with the consequences of war. While the reconstruction of affected regions is a complex process, the restoration of inner peace is no less vital for each of us.
