The Biometric Research Laboratory welcomed curious, enthusiastic, and determined participants. Under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, Antonina Byesedina, students had the opportunity not only to learn fascinating facts about fingerprints but also to decode the patterns of their own prints. Assisting them in this process were first-year students of the Educational and Scientific Medical Institute – Tykhon Huz, Daria Neycheva, Viktoriia Shuhayova, Dmytro Bohomaz, and Liliia Nedaikhlib.
Through personal examples, participants came to understand that fingerprints can be used to predict a person’s predisposition to the development of various physical traits, intellectual abilities, psychological characteristics, psychomotor skills, the identification of chromosomal diseases, and even determining a person’s temperament. The students learned that the development of papillary lines on the skin is influenced by the formation of the nervous system and the interaction of genes such as WNT, EDAR, and BMP. The schoolchildren conducted their own dermatoglyphic research, which revealed the genetic traits of each individual through the papillary patterns of the skin.
In addition, the students immersed themselves in the world of microscopic research. They were introduced to the instruments used to study cells and learned about modern advancements in microscopy. Participants had the chance to prepare their own micro-preparations of hair and cotton fibers and observe them under low and high magnification.
This engaging hands-on activity sparked significant interest among the students. It was an exciting and emotional experience that brought them together around a common goal, offering a wonderful opportunity for self-expression, skill development, and new friendships. The students were sincere, friendly, kind, and attentive. They worked diligently and listened carefully.
The event generated great enthusiasm among the participants, fostering a joyful and friendly atmosphere, leaving them with positive impressions and unforgettable emotions.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part!
We look forward to seeing you again!
