Continuing the Tradition of Cooperation with the Medical College of Sumy

The new academic year has begun, and our department is actively continuing its cooperation with educational institutions in Sumy. On September 25, 2025, first-year students of the Sumy Professional Medical College visited the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology with the Course of Medical Biology. We were especially pleased to welcome among the first-year students active participants of the Winter Biology School, which has been successfully held for two consecutive years.

During the visit, students learned about the history of the department, its academic disciplines, scientific research, and the work of the department’s student scientific societies.

Antonina Biesiedina delivered an engaging presentation with demonstrations of macro- and micro-preparations of parasites that cause diseases in humans. Guests had the opportunity to observe microscopic specimens and refresh their knowledge of microscope structure. Many questions arose, all of which were thoroughly answered. The college students also visited the Medical Biology Class-Museum, where they could view numerous fascinating exhibits.

Zoya Levchenko intrigued the students with information about the composition and functions of blood, the inheritance of blood groups, and the global distribution of people with certain blood types. Particularly interesting was the experiment on determining blood groups using the ABO system. Students enthusiastically took part in the experiment and listened attentively to the accompanying information. To reinforce their knowledge of human blood groups, a quiz was held that helped participants test what they had learned.

The excursion sparked great interest among the medical college students. This event helped stimulate their enthusiasm and motivation to study medical subjects and explore new opportunities, including the prospect of continuing their education at the Educational and Scientific Medical Institute of SumDU.

At the end of the visit, the students expressed their gratitude for the new knowledge and vivid impressions.

We thank all participants for their active involvement and wish them continued success in their studies and the realization of their future plans.

Take care of yourselves.
