Conference for Students of Medicine and Dentistry “Molecular and Genetic Mechanisms of Multifactorial Disease Development”

On November 27, 2025, the Department hosted a mini-conference entitled “Molecular and Genetic Mechanisms of Multifactorial Disease Development.” The event was organized within the framework of the course Clinical Physiology and brought together students of the Dentistry (I1) and Medicine (I2) programs.

The main purpose of the conference was to deepen students’ understanding of the impact of genetic predisposition and gene polymorphisms on the development of the most common pathological conditions. The participants presented seven informative reports covering the most relevant issues in clinical genetics and personalized medicine.

Daryna Olehiivna Zavorа opened the conference with a presentation on “Genetic Mechanisms of Arterial Hypertension Development,” emphasizing the multifactorial nature of this cardiovascular disease.

Sofiya Vitaliivna Karpenok highlighted a critically important topic: “Cytochrome P450 Gene Polymorphisms and Their Influence on Drug Metabolism,” a foundation of pharmacogenetics.

The topic of genetic predisposition to metabolic disorders was continued by Yelyzaveta Vyacheslavivna Tsiukh, who presented “Genetic Determinants of Susceptibility to Obesity.”

The importance of programmed cell death in the pathogenesis of various diseases was revealed by Vadym Viktorovych Kapustin in his report “Molecular Mechanisms of Apoptosis and Their Clinical Significance.”

Challenges in neurology were presented by Olha Oleksandrivna Chernysh in the report “Genetic Markers of Risk for Neurodegenerative Diseases.”

Sofiya Anatoliivna Ponomarenko focused on chronobiology, presenting “The Role of Circadian Rhythm Regulatory Genes in the Development of Sleep Disorders.”

The conference concluded with Maryna Romanivna Masha, who delivered a timely presentation on “Molecular and Genetic Mechanisms of Carcinogenesis.”

The conference was conducted at a high scientific and organizational level, demonstrating the strong interest of future professionals in interdisciplinary knowledge necessary for modern clinical practice and the development of personalized medicine.

The Department expresses sincere gratitude to all participants for their active involvement and well-prepared presentations.
