Brain Awareness Week at SumDU

From March 10 to 16, Sumy State University joined the global Brain Awareness Week for the third time. This event aims to raise public awareness of neuroscience research and brain studies.

Brain Awareness Week at SumDU was initiated by the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology with a course in Medical Biology and is organized in collaboration with the SumDU Library.

This year’s program was engaging and diverse.

For school students in Sumy, third-year NNMI student Yelyzaveta Pastushkova conducted a quiz, “Brain Maze”, and an interactive quest, “Through the Labyrinths of Medicine”. (See more: https://physiology.med.sumdu.edu.ua/en/quiz-brain-maze-and-quest-through-the-labyrinths-of-medicine/ )

A major highlight for visitors was the event “Neuro VR: Immersion into the World of Virtual Technologies”, featuring a visit to the Ulab Virtual and Augmented Reality Laboratory. This event was organized by Yurii Zuban, Director of the E-Learning Technology Center. (See more: https://physiology.med.sumdu.edu.ua/en/neuro-vr-immersion-into-the-world-of-virtual-technologies/ )

Professor Viktoriia Harbuzova delivered a popular science lecture titled “The Secrets of the Brain’s Nightlife: What Really Happens When We Sleep?” (See more: https://physiology.med.sumdu.edu.ua/en/lecture-by-professor-viktoriia-harbuzova-as-part-of-brain-awareness-week/ )

For students, staff, and all interested participants, Associate Professor Dmytro Sotnikov hosted an educational session, “Top 5 Things You Need to Know About Migraines and Their Treatment”.
