Bologna Principles and Tools, Values in Higher Education

Associate Professor of the Department, Antonina Biesiedina, took part in the 14th International Scientific and Practical Conference “European Integration of Ukrainian Higher Education in the Context of the Bologna Process: Bologna Principles and Tools, Values in Higher Education,” which was held on November 6–7, 2025, in a hybrid format. The event was organized by the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine in cooperation with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, and the Union of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions. The aim of the conference was to discuss the European integration of Ukrainian higher education within the context of the Bologna Process, including achievements, challenges, and values, particularly in light of the 20th anniversary of the Bologna Process in Ukraine.

Key speakers included: Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Volodymyr Buhrov, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine Svitlana Shytikova, President of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine Vasyl Kremen, Head of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance Andrii Butenko, among others. In his opening speech, Andrii Butenko emphasized the main stages of the development of Ukraine’s higher education system over 20 years of participation in the Bologna Process. Iryna Zolotarova presented the national dimension of approaches to ensuring and improving the quality of higher education.

During the conference, participants discussed pressing issues aimed at reflecting on the achievements and challenges of implementing the Bologna principles, tools, and values of the European Higher Education Area, as well as exploring prospects for the further modernization of Ukrainian higher education in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. Indeed, high-quality education and the ability of academic communities to pursue renewal form the foundation for the country’s future development.
