For the first time, the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology joined the biological tournament – debates, which took place on 1 May in the Congress Centre of Sumy State University.
Unlike traditional competitions, tournaments are a team game. The tasks for the tournament were prepared by the teachers of the department – V.Y. Harbuzova, A.A. Biesiedina, and O.A. Obukhova – and published a month before the tournament. The teams, together with their leaders, prepared solutions to the proposed tasks and their presentations.
The tournament was attended by 1st and 2nd year students. Three teams were formed: ‘Men in Black, Tigers and Victory.

At the tournament, the teams competed with each other in their ability to solve complex biological problems, present their solutions and defend their own point of view in a scientific discussion. The teams took turns acting as a speaker, an opponent and a reviewer. Speakers presented their own solution to the problem. Opponents evaluated the presentation, identified its positive and negative aspects and pointed out mistakes, if any. The task of the reviewers was to evaluate the work of both the speaker and the opponent. All teams coped with their tasks.
The game was observed by the jury consisting of: prof. Harbuzova Viktoriia Yuriivna, assoc. prof. Biesiedina Antonina Anatoliivna, assoc. Levchenko Zoya Mikhailovna, students Anastasia Akimova (MC-104) and Anastasia Zavora (MC-004). The host was student Irina Dyadyura (MC-104).
According to the results of the tournament, the WINNING TEAM was chosen – ‘PEOPLE IN BLACK’.
Despite the complexity of the questions and the teams’ desire to win, the atmosphere in the hall was friendly and welcoming. After the game, the participants continued to discuss issues and share their impressions.
We express our gratitude to the Student Directorate and the participants for this event!!!
