Associate Professor Antonina BIESIEDINA Held an Event for Students: “Reproductive Health. Features of Puberty”

Today, the state of young people’s reproductive health is of particular concern, as it is an integral part of the overall health of the nation and has strategic importance for ensuring the sustainable development of society. Reproductive health is a state of physical, mental, and social well-being in all matters relating to the reproductive system at all stages of life.

With the aim of reducing maternal and child mortality, unplanned pregnancies, and preventing diseases, on May 19, Associate Professor Antonina BIESIEDINA held an event for 10th-grade students of Sumy Secondary School No. 24 titled “Reproductive Health. Features of Puberty.”
The event aimed to develop an understanding of the risk factors affecting young people’s reproductive health in Ukraine; to promote the formation of strong beliefs among students about the importance of a healthy lifestyle as a key condition for realizing a person’s physical, mental, social, and spiritual potential, taking into account individual characteristics; to develop health-preserving competencies; and to cultivate conscious responsibility for one’s actions and decisions.

Students had the opportunity to learn about the most pressing medical and social issues faced by adolescents: sexual behavior and harmful habits; unwanted pregnancy; and sexually transmitted infections. The students presented their own reports and actively participated in the discussions.

At the end of the event, participants agreed that taking care of one’s health — including reproductive health — should become a norm and a part of every person’s behavior and culture.

Reproductive health is the foundation of a healthy nation!
