Action Algorithm in Case of Bleeding

On June 27, lecturers from the department attended the event “Emergency Assistance for Conflict-Affected Populations in Ukraine: Action Algorithm in Case of Bleeding”, held in the shelter of the Educational and Scientific Medical Institute. The training followed the Stop the Bleed recommendations by the American College of Surgeons.

The trainers shared simple yet life-saving medical techniques aimed at reducing victims’ suffering during emergencies and preventing possible complications. The ability of each individual to provide immediate first aid before the arrival of emergency services can play a crucial role in saving lives.

Participants learned about the principles of first aid for trauma, safety rules when providing assistance, the step-by-step algorithm for managing bleeding, and the signs of critical bleeding. In practical sessions, they practiced key methods of bleeding control: applying tourniquets, packing wounds with critical bleeding, and providing first aid for internal bleeding.

The event was extremely valuable and generated great interest among attendees, who actively asked questions and received important recommendations.

We sincerely thank our trainers and the event organizers!
