As part of the \u201cBrain Awareness Week \u2013 2026\u201d events, educational activities were held on March 18 for students of Municipal Lyceum No. 33 of the Sumy City Council. The school students attended engaging thematic lectures delivered by students Viktoriia Shuhaiova and Liliia Nedaikhlib, while Dmytro Bohomaz (group MC.m-406) spoke about student life and studying at the university.<\/p>

Viktoriia Shuhaiova presented the topic \u201cInteresting Facts about the Brain,\u201d sharing fascinating scientific insights into the functioning of the nervous system. She explained how the brain controls various processes in the body and highlighted its role in thinking, memory, emotions, and learning.<\/p>

Liliia Nedaikhlib introduced the topic \u201cSleep and Brain Health.\u201d During her presentation, she explained why sufficient sleep is essential for proper brain function, memory retention, concentration, and emotional balance. The students also received practical advice on developing healthy sleep habits.<\/p>

During the discussion, the school students were introduced to the educational and research opportunities offered by Sumy State University. They learned about medical specialties, study conditions, student life, and career prospects available through university education. In addition, the students were \u043e\u0437\u043d\u0430\u043a\u043e\u043c\u043b\u0435\u043d\u044b with the scientific achievements of the department\u2019s faculty in the field of neuroscience and mental health research.<\/p>

In particular, the work of the molecular genetics laboratory was presented, where research is conducted to study the role of genetic predictors in the development of neurological diseases. The students were informed about modern research methods used in the laboratory, as well as the importance of such studies for early diagnosis, prevention, and the development of new treatment approaches for nervous system disorders. This sparked considerable interest among the students and encouraged their engagement in scientific activities.<\/p>

The students were also invited to join the department\u2019s clubs: \u201cMental Health Club,\u201d \u201cMolecular Genetics Laboratory,\u201d and \u201cPhysiology Club.\u201d<\/p>

The meeting generated lively interest among the students and helped raise awareness about the importance of maintaining brain health.
