From February 26\u201328 and March 1, the II stage of the All-Ukrainian competition\u2013defense of research projects of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine\u00a0was held at the Municipal Institution of the Sumy Regional Council \u2013 the Regional Center for Extracurricular Education and Work with Gifted Youth.<\/p>

The Head of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, Professor Viktoriia Harbuzova<\/b><\/strong>, chaired the jury in the sections \u201cHuman Biology,\u201d \u201cHealthcare,\u201d and \u201cMedicine.\u201d
The jury members also included Associate Professor of the Department of Pediatrics Viktoriia Petrashenko<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0<\/b><\/strong>and Associate Professor of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology Antonina Biesiedina<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>

Section \u201cHuman Biology\u201d<\/h3>

Five research projects prepared by students from the Sumy region were submitted:<\/p>

  1. The prevalence of blood groups among the population of the Lypova Dolyna community.<\/li>
  2. The impact of sleep deprivation on the cognitive functions of senior school students.<\/li>
  3. The effects of strength training on the human body.<\/li>
  4. The influence of distance learning and screen exposure on the visual health of adolescents.<\/li>
  5. The microflora of cash and smartphones as objects of daily use.<\/li><\/ol>

    Section \u201cHealthcare\u201d<\/h3>

    Five research projects were also presented:<\/p>

    1. A study of the quality of black tea sold in the ATB supermarket in the city of Shostka.<\/li>
    2. Assessment of the quality and safety of table salt available to consumers in Shostka.<\/li>
    3. Domestic animals as a resource for maintaining psychophysiological and psycho-emotional stability of individuals.<\/li>
    4. Adolescent myopia in Ukraine: analysis of trends, behavioral, and social risk factors.<\/li>
    5. The increasing number of children with psychophysical disorders as a challenge for modern inclusive education.<\/li><\/ol>

      Section \u201cMedicine\u201d<\/h3>

      Three research projects were submitted:<\/p>

      1. The impact of physical activity on the bodies of students belonging to different physical education groups.<\/li>
      2. A study of the adaptive potential of students with different levels of cardiac functional efficiency under conditions of prolonged distance learning.<\/li>
      3. Genetic links between dental prosthetics and cardiometabolic diseases.<\/li><\/ol>

        Competition Process<\/h3>

        The competition took place in several stages.<\/p>

        The first stage\u00a0consisted of remote evaluation by the jury, who assessed the justification of the chosen topic, its scientific or practical value, the systematic presentation of the research problem, clarity of expression, critical analysis of sources, and compliance with formatting requirements.<\/p>

        The second stage\u00a0included poster presentations and the defense of the key provisions of the research projects before the jury.<\/p>

        The final stage\u00a0was a conference for all participants, which provided an opportunity for discussion and exchange of ideas between the contestants and the jury members. The scientific expertise of the jury members contributed to a high-quality analysis of the students\u2019 research and fostered a constructive professional dialogue with the participants.<\/p>

        Research projects of the Junior Academy of Sciences\u00a0play a key role in shaping future scientists. They are characterized by the relevance of their topics, an interdisciplinary approach, and a commitment to scientific objectivity through the use of modern research methods. Participants demonstrate strong analytical abilities, the capacity to formulate scientific hypotheses, and the ability to draw well-substantiated conclusions.<\/p>
