On December 5, a regular meeting of the student scientific club took place. Antonina Besedina outlined the club’s topic: “Epigenetics: How the Environment Changes Our DNA.” Epigenetics, as a branch of biology that studies changes in gene expression occurring without alterations in the underlying DNA sequence, offers many fascinating insights. Key scientific facts in modern epigenetics were presented during the meeting by first-, second-, third-, and fourth-year students. Seven student presentations were delivered:<\/p>

  2. Neycheva Darya, MCm-401: “Epigenetic Mechanisms of Gene Expression Control”<\/li>
  3. Cherkashina Valeria, SM-101: “Genomic Imprinting”<\/li>
  4. Starostenko Igor, MCm-215: “The Impact of Fast Food on DNA Structure”<\/li>
  5. Sadovnychyy Oleksii, MCm-402: “Epigenetics and Cancer”<\/li>
  6. Sakhnenko Zakhar, MCm-401: “Epigenetics and Aging”<\/li>
  7. Bondar Yana, MCm-102: “The Impact of Stress on Human Genes”<\/li><\/ol>

    During the meeting, topics such as the development of epigenetic science, mechanisms of gene expression control, and the effects of DNA on aging and cancer were discussed. Particularly engaging were the presentations “The Impact of Fast Food on DNA Structure”\u00a0and “The Impact of Stress on Human Genes.”\u00a0Attendees had the opportunity to learn intriguing facts and ask important questions to the speakers.<\/p>

    Student research work is an essential and necessary component in preparing highly qualified specialists. The most talented and promising students in research have been recommended to participate in student scientific conferences.<\/p>
