As a continuation of the work of the student scientific club of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology with the course in Medical Biology, a meeting on the topic “Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine” was held online on November 21.<\/p>

Regenerative medicine is a relatively new field but is developing rapidly worldwide and is applied in numerous medical areas: hematology (leukemia, anemia), cardiology (ischemic heart disease), neurology (stroke, degenerative processes), endocrinology (diabetes), orthopedics and traumatology (injuries, cartilage degeneration), clinical immunology (immunodeficiency), gastroenterology (cirrhosis, Crohn’s disease), burn treatment and plastic surgery (burns, tissue modeling), and oncology.<\/p>

Reports were prepared by second- and third-year students. The meeting was opened by Ihor Starostenko with a presentation titled “Stem Cells: A New Direction in Combating Viral Infections.”<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0Attendees learned about advancements in viral infection therapies, as well as the successes of using stem cells to treat coronavirus infections and their complications.<\/p>

The next presentation, “Stem Cells Against Cancer: The Future of Oncotherapy,”<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0was delivered by Olesia Chernets. It covered the mechanisms and methods of applying stem cells in patients with various forms of malignant tumors.<\/p>

The meeting continued with a presentation by Viktoriia Hannina on the topic “The Present and Future of Regenerative Medicine.”<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0Attendees were intrigued by information on the origins, developmental stages, and future possibilities of regenerative medicine.<\/p>

The final presentation at this meeting was delivered by Olha Rozmaita on the topic “Clinical Studies Using Polynucleotides: New Horizons in Regenerative Medicine.”<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0She presented the role of polynucleotides in the regeneration mechanisms of various human tissues, particularly the skin, with their effectiveness confirmed by numerous studies.<\/p>

The relevance of the topic sparked enthusiasm among the audience and led to an active discussion.<\/p>
